☀️ Energize Your Roots In 10 Minutes

Further below you'l find a gift, a journey for energizing your roots in 10 minutes or less. Yet first, if you're in the northern hemisphere, it is now officially spring even though it may not feel like it where you live. And if you're in the southern hemisphere, you have stepped into autumn…and what those two things have in common, at least in my mind, are roots and bulbs.

Where I live here in Maine, we are very excited because we have very early and little crocus flowers that come up.  They only grow about 3 to 6 inches tall and all the essence that they need to sustain themselves over the winter is stored in the bulb and looks a bit like a little onion.

And there's just enough energy in that to put out green stalks and flowers so they can photosynthesize and then fill up the bulb again over the course of its life in spring.  The bulb will be able to put up shoots again next year too.

What is also happening, not in bulbs necessarily, but tree roots are taking in water again and so as soon as they have leaves, they'll be able to photosynthesize, but they're already pulling in nutrients and water through their roots now.

If we think about roots, and I think bulbs have roots at the bottom so we'll talk about the roots there as well.  Roots in a very profound way are the foundation for life.

I think of plants being the first part of the food chain.  Animals eat plants, whether they be insects that then feed the birds or herbivores that then feed the predators. They also provide us oxygen thank goodness!
It makes me think about our foundation.

We know what the foundation of the food chain is but what about our own foundation… our own metaphoric roots?

And I don't mean our ancestors, I'm talking about what is it that sustains you at the very base? What is it that is sustaining, energizing and provides you that inspiration to continue to live from? It might be what you consider to be your purpose. It might be something else but whatever it is that you identify with, I’m inviting you to energize it by participating in a guided imagery/journey with me in a moment, further down below.

Whether you're in autumn and all the goodness is stored in the roots until the next growing year or you're in spring where the roots are actively taking in nourishment, roots are critical to the plants and trees.  And roots for us are critical as well. Otherwise, we can be free floating, energetically with no purpose, no reason for being here and I don't mean duty either, I mean personal rootedness, a personal foundation that is unshakable.

It might be a skill you have, it might be the fact that you are very loving, it can be anything.  You know what it is when you allow yourself to pull down and in, you know what that foundation is and even if you don't identify it yet, this guided imagery/journey will be supportive.  Of course you can come back later when you’re more available for 5 to 10 minutes work for you.

I invite you to find a quiet space for about 10 minutes so you can read the guided imagery/journey below and then participate in it on your own silently or watch my video here starting at the 4:26 mark.

Energize Your Roots Journey

Take a couple of moments to get comfy, wiggle in your chair…and even if you're at work, you can close your eyes for a couple of minutes, take a nice deep breath with your eyes closed and just keep breathing from that place.

Imagine that with each breath, you're going deeper into yourself, taking in air, exhaling and you drop down just a little bit more.

Take in the oxygen that invigorates every one of your cells and then as you exhale, you drop even further down inside of yourself.  Keep breathing in that way that you perceive your energy, your attention going down, down, down inside of yourself.

Don't think so much about the structure of your physical body, but that there's a sole place in the very depth of who you are, the very depth of your being, which is timeless, that is what enlivens you in this lifetime.

Let each breath take you deeper and deeper to that foundation at the core of who you are, your foundation, your root and then eventually allow it to spark gratitude for that root.

Give some love to that root, that purpose, that foundation of who you are.

Allow your love and gratitude for being recognized as one of Earth's beloveds and bring that down to energize your roots…that foundation that allows you to continue to grow and evolve and change as a person in this lifetime.

And as you're bringing your awareness, your love, your awareness of being beloved by the planet, also bring memories of all that you love of nature down to that root. Your love of the smell of rain on the breeze, warm sand beneath your toes, snow is falling and being caught on your eyelashes or on your mittens, deliberately stomping in a mud puddle just for the fun of it in your boots, running your hands over the tall grass in the middle or throwing your arms around a tree, seeing an animal or a bird that you never saw before and being struck to complete silence and immobility as you watch with such excitement and then a deep compassion for that being and gratitude for the gift of being able to perceive it.  Let that all pour into your roots into your foundation as though you're being watered as a plant is watered.

And you can feel the vitality in those roots, that root system beneath you…maybe one big tap root or branching out into many roots.

Feel the vitality in it and how it's bringing that energy that you give it back into your spirit, back into your physical body, through your spirit. Your spirit infuses you and embraces you.

Your spirit body is far bigger than your physical body and even dips below your feet into the ground and feel that energy that you are being a conduit of through your feelings, through your memories, pouring down onto those roots to enliven you, to feel more connected to the natural world.

To know that you are a profoundly sacred being, no matter what you heard from other people for you are beloved by Mother Earth.  You are one of her beloveds just like the tiniest bird, the great whales, all of life, all of life from the smallest sprout to the greatest tree and every landscape.

-----------------------------------------

So think about your roots. Think about when they need to be watered.

Are you feeling down a pint of water? The roots? Are you overburdened?  If so, time to water the roots.

And as you do that you are connecting yourself more and more to the natural world. You're reminding your physical body that you're part of nature, that you are sustained by energy as all the other animals and birds and plants and trees are too.  And you have the capacity to change your energy through your feelings and give love and gratitude from your experiences while conjuring up things that remind you how much you love the world. Maybe not the human world always, but the natural world, and pour that into your roots so that you can continue to grow and evolve and change and be more and more magnificent for as long as ever you live!

Go with blessings and love,
Evelyn
